Special Events For 2018

Maple Syrup Festival-
Sundays, March 4, 11, 18 & 25,  Wednesday, March 14, Thursday, March 15, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Discover one of Canada's most time-honoured and delicious traditions. Explore the making of maple syrup from the tree to the table. Families can purchase and enjoy a delicious reasonably-priced pancake breakfast.

Good Friday
Friday, March 30 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Children and their families will find lots to do together on this day. Enjoy traditional spring-themed games, crafts, activities and demonstrations. This is the last day for the Maple Syrup Festival too!

Mother's Day
Sunday, May 10, 12:30 to 4:00 p.m.
Discover the evolving and diverse roles of women in early Ontario from the late 1700s through to the early 20th century.
 
Victoria Day Weekend
Sunday, May 20 & Monday, May 21, 12:30 to 4:00 p.m.
Explore the village and discover what life was like in Victorian Canada. Monday only, enjoy the music of the Della Sera Strings orchestra at 2:00 p.m. (Seating is limited)
 
Bring a Picnic for Father's Day!
Sunday, June 17, 12:30 to 4:00 p.m.
Treat Dad to a day in the country. Bring your own picnic to enjoy in the beautiful, picturesque setting of Westfield. Purchase sweet treats and cool drinks from the General Store.
 
Canada Day- Celebrating 150 Years!
Sunday, July 1, 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Tour the village and discover what life was like in early Canada. Visit the historic buildings, gardens and forests, stroll on the boardwalk or take a hike on the trails. This is a great opportunity for new Canadians to experience the history of Canada.
 
Summer Sundays
July 8, 15, 22, 29 and August 12, 26, 12:30 to 4:00 p.m.

Ice Cream Carnival-
Sunday, August 5 and Monday, August 6, 10:00 a.m.  to 4:00 p.m.
Celebrate summer with the sweet taste of ice cream at this lively family event. Enjoy Edwardian carnival foods, games, amusements and music. Hand cranked real ice cream making demonstrations and samples throughout the day. Don't miss the delicious and festive family outing.
 
Textiles Day
Sunday, August 19, 12:30 to 4:00 p.m.
Come to the village and enjoy learning how different types of textile fibres are produced and used. Watch the labour-intensive process that transforms the course flax plant into a material that can be used to make lovely linen fabric. Discover the interesting process of spinning and dyeing wool and see what the weaver has on the loom today.

Autumn Sundays
Sunday September 2, 9, 23 and October 14, 28, 12:30 to 4:00 p.m.
 
Telling Tales: A Family Festival of Stories-
Sunday, September 16, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Designated one of the province's "Top 100" by Festivals and Events Ontario, this is a free event celebrating Canada's leading children's writers and illustrators. Meet authors, artists and musicians and take part in the popular Book Swap and Shop. Free parking at Rockton Fairgrounds with complimentary shuttle service to Westfield. (There is no public parking at Westfield.)

A Taste of Warm Bread
Sunday, September 30, 12:30 to 4:00 p.m.
Come and taste a little bit of history! Warm, soft, crusty- bread is the theme of this day. Learn how different types of breads are made in hearths, woodstoves and the bake oven. Samples will be available.

Thanksgiving Sunday and Monday
Sunday October 7 and Monday October 8, 12:30 to 4:00 p.m.
 Bring the whole family for a wonderful afternoon in the country exploring the people and places of early Ontario.
 
Pumpkin Sunday
Sunday, October 21, 12:30 to 4:00 p.m.
A fun event for the whole family, especially the little ones! Featuring pumpkin-themed games, demonstrations, crafts and activities. bring your camera!

Haunted Halloween-
Friday, October 26 and Saturday, October 27, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Something curious is happening in the village! Find out what as you explore by lantern, pumpkins and moonlight. Call for more information.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas-
Saturdays, December 8, 15 & 22, 2018 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Enjoy Westfield by candlelight and feel the warmth of the season through music, food samples, fireworks and a visit from Father Christmas. Christmas shopping is available at the Gift Shop and the restaurant features light meals and refreshments.
